WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Wednesday again, here goes!

Completed Projects

DWR quilt top

Yes, I suppose technically this isn't quite a "finish" yet, but I don't care, I'm considering it a finish!  I pieced the last two rows of arcs together to finish this quilt top up, and after much internal debate, I've settled on a quilt back (I think, haha) and should be ready to quilt this in the next few days!

New Projects

DQS 11

DQS 11 Inspiration Mosaic

I got my partner information for DQS 11, and have been busy stalking away deciding on the perfect doll quilt!  Above is my mosaic, can't wait to dive into this one!

For the Love of Solids

My creation

I suppose this hasn't technically started yet,  but I couldn't contain my excitement..a swap?  using only solids? Yes please!!  Today is the first day to sign up, you can too, here!

In Progress

4x5 Modern Quilt Bee

4x5 trial block

I have to say, my bees in hive 14 are kind of awesome :-)  I started playing around with some block ideas and have decided on these fun mini whirlygigs for my block.  I suppose I technically could give this block to one of the ladies who selected aqua, yellow and grey, like myself (there are 3 of us in my hive!) but I think I'll keep this one for me, and make 5 new ones.

FWQAL

No new blocks to report yet.  I was working on them last night, and ran into some trouble with block #17.  It was not pretty, like holy hot mess not pretty, so I left it for the night, before further curse words were uttered. More progress from down on the farm hopefully tomorrow.

Kaleidoscope QAL

Unfortunately I think I have piled too much on my plate with actual deadlines (blame it on my mild addiction to all things swaps, I suppose) but as much as I am itching to make this quilt, I am going to put it on hold until after I get a few of these swap blocks and doll quilts completed.

  4. Congrats on finishing the DWR!!!!! Getting the top done is certainly a finish. I have pieces for one cut, but haven't put even one piece together, LOL!
Love all the Love of Solids photos.

  5. Love them all. Thanks for including my work in your solids mosaic! I'm still debating on signing up for that one. I feel a little over committed right now. We'll see.

  6. Your DWR top most certainly is a finish! Can't wait to see what you decide to do for the back, it's going to be beautiful when you get it finished.

I hear ya on the kaleidoscope, I haven't even started cutting yet. It's gotten totally pushed aside due to other stuff, and I had promised myself I'd keep up with this one! Good luck with everything else so you can get to work on it.

  7. I would love to take part in that solids swap, but you need to have been a swap before - this is so often the case and I'm still waiting to find my first!

  9. Hi, Jess. So psyched about hive 14! That block is great and can't wait to see it in my colors! I'm thinking about blocks and I think I'll paper-piece something. I need to do a little shopping first. Yay!

  10. You know, the good thing about quilts bigger than doll quilts is that they have two finish points - the "flimsy" stage (a completed top) and the completed quilt! Your wedding ring top is amazing.

  14. The DWR looks amazing! Great job on that, what an accomplishment. And your inspiration mosaic for DQS 11 makes me soooooo bummed that I didn't sign up, but I'm swearing off swaps for now. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
