BQF: Introducing Ring Toss

I am so excited to not only have a quilt to contribute to the Blogger's Quilt Festival this time around, but also be releasing my second quilt pattern at the same time!  Ring Toss is now available both in my pattern shop and on Craftsy for $6.50 through May 20 (after May 20th price will be $8.00).

And now introducing Ring Toss, my newest quilt pattern!  This quilt is inspired by Denyse Schmidt's Single Girl, but by designing my own pattern and templates, I was able to take the parts I wasn't so crazy about and make it mine, and in turn make it available to you as well, in 5 different sizes!

I chose to make the baby  size, as I obviously have babies on the brain.  While we don't yet know what sex the little bean is, I have an inkling that it's a boy, hence the overwhelming amount of blue themed quilt palettes you'll be seeing in the coming weeks.  Of course I could be completely wrong, and we could be baking ourselves a little lady in there, hopefully we'll be able to find out soon!

Anyways, back to the quilt!  This PDF pattern comes together very quickly and easily for quilters of all experience levels.  The Ring Toss pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions, complete with pictures of each step detailing both the foundation piecing (paper piecing) process for piecing the arc portions, as well as pictures walking you through the process of piecing curves.  This quilt would serve as a great skill builder for beginner quilters, yet also fit a more advanced quilters skill level as well.

The Ring Toss pattern lends itself very well to using your favorite fabric line, or your most precious scraps from your stash.  The pattern includes instructions for cutting from both yardage or fat quarters (fat eighths for the baby size), as well as supplemental cutting instructions for larger fabric pieces if needed when foundation piecing.

The Ring Toss quilt pattern is now available from my pattern shop (please allow 24 hours for email delivery)  as well as Craftsy (available for instant download) for a discounted price of $6.50 through Monday, May 20 (after May 20th, price will be $8.00).

I can't wait to see your creations, if you do make a Ring Toss quilt I would love to see it in my Flickr pool!

This quilt comes together quickly and simply.  The Lucky Square PDF quilt pattern is a great way to use your favorite small scale prints combined with a solid background fabric, to form a patchwork interlocking pattern. Use your favorite fabric line, or scraps from stash for a unique look!

I really love how versatile this pattern is.  This Lucky Square quilt no longer lives with me, as it was gifted to my aunt for Christmas, and I'm envisioning a second Lucky Square quilt just for us using up some sacred teensy tiny 2.5" squares I've been saving up of my most favorite fabrics since I began quilting 3 years ago.

I am so so grateful for a few quilty friends who answered my pleas for pattern testers to double check my work, and just love their versions of the pattern!  Here are a few who finished up quilt tops using the pattern:

Adrianne completed this version using Essex Linen as her background fabrics and Indie by Art Gallery Fabrics as the prints.  I am in love with how soft her version feels with that great linen as the background.  She also added borders to the quilt edges, which looks great!  Adrianne blogged about her quilt top here.

Michelle whipped up a baby version using a few adorable baby boy prints and white as her background fabric, this will be one lucky baby boy who receives this quilt!

Kirsten made this lap version using Architextures and a Kona grey as the background fabric.  Her husband is one lucky man to be receiving this quilt as a gift, I love how the prints really pop against the dark background!

This is Alison's scrappy version, she blogged about her quilt top here.  Alison has me wanting to dig through my scrap bins and start on a second quilt, like now!

This is Brooke's progress, hello fabric envy!  This Castle Peeps version is to die for, and I can't wait to see it come together!

Marla is in the middle of basting her twin size quilt.  She used Kona celery as her background fabric, and I'm totally digging it!

I can't say thank you enough to all of my pattern testers, this certainly would not have come together without them!!

This pattern can be purchased from my pattern shop for $6.50 through January 21st, 2013.  After January 21st, the price will then be $8.00.

Now for the good stuff..I am offering up a giveaway of my Lucky Square quilt pattern to 3 people.  Simply leave me a comment on this post, and Mr. Random will select 3 winners on Wednesday, January 16, 2013!

Lucky Square quilt top

DSC_0662

I've been plugging right along on my "pre-holiday sewing  to-do list" and got to check finishing up this quilt top off the list this weekend.  I started working on this pattern a few months back, after seeing this geometric print on a lamp shade somewhere, and it feels great to see it come to life in fabric.

I cut into my fat quarter bundle of Chicopee for this quilt, and really can't think of a better quilt to have used it for.  Those pretty saturated jewel tones of the line really pop against the white and, I think, work so well in a geometric patchwork design like this.  I had initially planned on using the left overs from the quilt top for the back, but am now thinking I want to hoard some of that fabric for a second quilt!

As this is the first pattern I've ever written up with the intention of selling, I am looking for a few pattern testers I am completely amazed at the number of offers to help out and to double check my work!  I have this pattern written up in 4 sizes, baby, lap (as pictured), twin and queen.  Thanks again to everyone who offered to pattern test!!
